Golden Kwan Yin on Lotus Blossom, 4 inch

Kwan Yin (Guan Yin, Quan Yin, Quan Shih Yin), one of the most popular deities in all Asia, is the Goddess of Mercy, Compassion, and the Protectoress of children. Her name in Chinese roughly translates as "The One who Hears the Cries of the World."

She had actually attained enlightenment to be a Buddha, but had chosen to stay behind to continue serving the world by becoming a "Pu Sa". Her kindred heart and compassionate character had touched the hearts of many Buddhist followers.

She is sitting on the "Lotus Blossom", which is one of the main symbols of Buddhist purity, since it a beautiful flower that grows out of mud. The meaning is that our hearts should be pure like the lotus flower, even though our lives might be surrounded by dirty (or impure) people and situations.

The vase in her hand symbolizes her pouring compassion on to the world.

The rosary in the other hand symbolizes her devotion to Buddhism and its tenets.

Kwan Yin should be placed in higher areas of your home:

• Display her facing outwards towards the main door to neutralize any incoming bad energy/chi and ward off illfull forces and evil spirits.
• Display her in important areas of your living room to receive blessings for the family, calm your emotions, and reduce sensitivity.
• Do not place her in kitchen, toilets or lower than 3 feet.
